Jenerous Skillz – A Global Jewish Hip Hop Album

Uneek Media and Corner Prophets are proud to present Jenerous Skillz, a unique cultural / musical project, the first of its kind, bringing together for the first time Israeli and Jewish rappers from all over the world.

The album was recorded in Tel Aviv and New York, and features exclusive collaborations between a variety of leading Jewish M.Cs. As tension between different factions within Israeli society is reaching new heights, Jenerous Skillz proves, in 60 minutes of original, hard-hitting, uncompromising hip hop, that we have more in common than we acknowledge.

The album was produced by Controverse, a promising young beatmaker from New York, while Max Schroeter and Khen Rotem (Sagol 59) acted as executive producers. At the request of some participants, no work on the project was done on Sabbath.

Our friends at Nomadic Wax have just released the second installment of Internationally Known, an impressive Hip Hop mixtape that features rappers from all across the globe.

Israeli rappers record track to support demonstrations

Last week, a group of 8 notable Israeli MC’s gathered to record “List Of Demands”, a track that supports the recent demonstrations held in Israel’s cities and also calls for equality among The Country’s citizens and residents. Israeli Jews, Arabs, Russian and Ethiopian rappers are all represented on the track.

(The 2011 Israeli housing protests, which are also referred to by various other names in the media, are a series of ongoing demonstrations in Israel beginning in July 2011 involving hundreds of thousands of protesters from a variety of socio-economic and religious backgrounds opposing the continuing rise in the cost of living in Israel, and particularly the relatively high housing prices in Israel as well as the lack of affordable housing solutions in the country.

As the protests expanded, the demonstrations began to also focus on other issues, such as the deteriorating state of the Israeli education system, the indirect costs of raising children and issues relating to the social order in Israel.)

JDub Records to close

After nearly nine years of operation and 35 album releases, JDub has announced that it will close up shop for financial reasons. The New York based, not-for-profit record label that is best known for helping to launch the career of Reggae star Matisyahu as well as being a home for acts such as Balkan Beat Box, Soulico, Golem, Girls In Trouble, Deleon, Sagol 59, SoCalled and others, worked to help young Jews forge vibrant connections to Judaism through music, media and cultural events.

THE FURIOUS FORCE OF RHYMES had its festival premiere in August 2010 at the Locarno International Film Festival. It is currently touring film festivals worldwide with official release dates yet to be announced.
