yeah, that shit is hot… definite skills, and funny too. but I kinda wanted to hear the rabbi’s side of the story, or at least know who won the battle.
this site is great, by the way. I like feeling connected to this hip-hop scene in Israel which (unless you count that night back in summer 2000 dancing in a mostly Ethiopian hip-hop/dancehall club in Tel Aviv) I’ve never experienced firsthand.
My experience of Judaism + hip-hop is mostly limited to Heavy Mental by Killah Priest (what is that guy’s religious affiliation anyway? he drops a lot of Old Testament science and appears on the SoCalled record, but he also rolls with the 5 Percenters, raps a lot about Jesus and says something about “synagogues of Satan”)
Rebel Sun is a particular find. That guy is dope. I hope he gets to stay in Eretz Yisrael.
Iron Solomon is my new hero. The best part is the Baruch Hashem at the end. Check out the other videos mytube, he’s amazing. Dan, you should write a story about him. Jewschool feature!
Ahh… the infamous one-sided video. Yes indeed, the illstrious Iron took that battle, and his since battled me twice more and used the exact same punchlines. Stocked like lake trout, canned like tuna
Anyway, here’s dope video from a real positive monthly party I throw here in NYC. It’s myself and my partner Hired Gun freestyling with 2 of the illest beatboxers in the US, Kid Lucky and Seme Rock.
Much love from BK!
Sorry Rabbi D, I think Iron Solomon is so entertaining and clever with his rhymes that I don’t really care if they are a little pre-meditated. And how do we really know if the battles since featured repeated rhymes anyway?
Ahh.. the infamous one-sided story of unrecorded rap battles…..
rabbi darkside stfu, dont matter we all know iron got skill….everyone went home saying his words all the times he battled u…..they couldnt remember urs….thats what matters
Man, I’ve seen this “discussion” all over the net, and I gotta laugh. How many of the peeps who diss Iron for pre-meditation have actually been in his presence at a battle? Anyone who has knows that he has one of the quickest minds out there. Whatever is thrown at him he grabs and turns around. I saw him get interrupted in the middle of his flow by his opponent and literally continue in mid-phrase, without missing a beat, on the new subject that had been introduced. Sure, he writes stuff too – who doesn’t? And sure he uses it sometimes when he needs it. But get real. I challenge anyone out there to battle him in an “off-the-top-ONLY” scene.
